With the summer sun beating down on her rural Spanish town, Sara hides away in her parent’s butcher shop. A teenager whose excess weight makes her the target of incessant bullying, she flees a clique of capricious girls who torment her at the town pool, only to stumble upon them being brutally kidnapped by a stranger.
A horror comedy that truly deserves this label: the psychopath who, in a Spanish village, unsolicitedly takes it upon himself to protect an obese butcher's daughter who is being bullied by three girls her age, is such an obscure character that you never know whether to fear more for the kidnapped bullies or for the dark figure's protégé. Spanish series specialist Carlotta Pereda keeps this game literally in suspense in her first cinema work, even when it has long since become quite bloody. Not for the faint-hearted, but for everyone else, it's wicked fun.
