Detective Nick Curran is assigned to solve a murder of a man who was stabbed to death with an ice pick. The main suspect is the ice-cold Catherine Tramell, who appears very provocative and seductive towards Nick. In fact, the two soon plunge into a disastrous affair in which Nick can't keep track of how far Catherine is involved in the murder case.

Auf der Suche nach einer Mörderin verfällt ein Polizist der mutmaßlichen Täterin und wird in ein Beziehungsgeflecht verstrickt, aus dem er sich bald nicht mehr aus eigener Kraft lösen kann. Effektvoll inszenierter Thriller, der sexuelles Verlangen und Gewalt verquickt und ein eher reaktionäres Weltbild propagiert. Das Spiel mit den seelischen Abgründen bleibt nur oberflächlich.
