The small French town of Montauban under German occupation in 1944: surgeon Julien moves his wife and daughter to the countryside out of fear of the occupying forces. A week later, he can no longer bear the uncertainty and travels there himself, only to discover that the Germans have also occupied the village. But this is not his only nasty discovery. Julien sees red and takes to the field against the enemy with an old hunting rifle.
