One Small Step
Aqsa Altaf, USA, 2017o
The nine-year-old Dasani, the eldest daughter of a single mother, is constantly torn between her schoolwork and her responsibilities for her two younger siblings. When her mother doesn't come home on the evening before a school trip, Dasani has to make a fateful decision.
A prototypical African-American lower class fate: the father of a family has gotten into the mills of justice, the mother is running with a security job and three small children at the stop, the eldest daughter is burdened too much. Kuwaiti-born Aqsa Altaf sketches this girl's dilemma by varying a few situations: not a word or image too much, the more you feel with this torn little heroine of everyday life.
