Donnie Brasco ist zwar vordergründig ein kühles, distanziertes Werk, aber eben auch eines, das nachwirkt. Dazu tragen wesentlich die beiden Hauptdarsteller Johnny Depp und Al Pacino bei, die belegen, dass zwei Stars noch lange kein Starkino bedeuten, und dass man zwei Schauspielergenerationen auch miteinander und nicht gegeneinander antreten lassen kann.
